MEMORY GAME
1. As a comment on this post, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you know me a little or a lot, anything you remember!
2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.
And if you're just a "lurker" that I don't know very well, please use this as an excuse to comment and say hello!

OK, so when I first met you I thought you were so perfect. The perfect mom, the perfect wife, the perfect amazing member of the church. But I still think that. YOu ARE amazing...and so PATIENT! Like when I accidentally gave the twins rice crispy treats!! Holy! You were so nice about it! Sorry about that... :)
I have cub scout memories of you. Thank you for always being so prepared and patient with the boys! And like Jen- I thought you and Cannon were/are the perfect parents. I remember sitting in church one time and Cannon was up playing the organ. You were gone and the twins were sitting on the front bench just as perfect as can be. Amazing! I was so jealous....
Valerie, I have trouble thinking of just one memory to put on here, but considering you just had a baby, your pregnancy and the birth of the twins ranks very high in my memories of you. I loved being at the hospital when they were born and seeing them come out from the surgery room and seeing Cannon's look of awe and happiness. Though when you showed us the ultrasound of the twins and told us you were having twins tops them all.
I was just tagged by another friend, so I may delay posting this on my blog for a few days, but I wanted to leave a memory (or maybe two) I really loved the evening we played at the park the night before Hurrican Isabell. The wind was blowing and the kids were all happy. (probably because they weren't super hot) Also, I remember the day you locked the kids in the car. And, Sydney's first birthday, I was so impressed with the cake you made (though I can't quite remember what it was). You're a great example to me!
Ditto with Jen and Jackie. I remember both of those memories: "poisoning" your children at a Primary Activity, and I do remember the time the twins just sat so reverently while Cannon played the organ. I'm still in awe of that one. I'm honestly hoping that by the time Austin leaves for his mission, I can trust him to sit quietly during Sacrament Meeting.
You and Cannon are definitely at the very top of my list as "Ideal Parents." Sometimes, I feel so bad for my kids that they don't get to have you guys as parents. When I picture you and Cannon in my head, I think of absolute patience and love.
I remember you sitting in our basement while the kids had a "play date." We just let them play, and kind of "helped" when they needed it, but otherwise just talked for hours! I remember being at your house too while we chatted and the kids played. Your house was the first place that I ever let Austin walk alone. I think I followed him (without him noticing) to make sure he got there okay.
I remember Cannon presenting at the Blue and Gold Banquet. The boys were completely captivated by him. He was in uniform and had a picture of a submarine with him. I remember you talking about how much he is gone and his passion for what he does. I greatly admire both of you for your sacrifices.
And, of course, I will always hold a small celebration for you every Leap Year. My own little Happy Birthday Valerie! I remember that Cannon made a promise to you to always be there for your birthday (since you only get one every four years). I remember you saying that you didn't think he could keep that promise because he was gone for work for months on end. But, he has kept is so far!
We love you guys and miss you so much! I'm glad we have the blogging world to keep us close.
Uh-oh Val... this is going wayyy back. I have thought long and hard about this: When we first met and we were talking about you being in the BYU marching band on our plaid couches. Then drum roll please- I will never forget celebrating your fifth birthday- you in the chair everyone standing in a circle around you with mugs of cool, refreshing water. We all took turns saying what we liked about Valerie and would clink our mugs and take a sip after each person's turn. Hip-hip-hooray! That's BYU fun for sure. And I always remember Ryan saying Val- give me 3 maybe 3 1/2 minutes. Maybe 3 and 3/4. Okay- what a roommate surprising me at my reception in Maine. Forever thanks. Man, I'm remembering more and more. I'll just stop here.
My favorite is still the first time I saw you kissing Cannon in the DC airport right after we met you for the first time. My thought was, "Who is that girl! and how did she get Cannon to kiss her!?"
Where--oh where--to begin?
Fourth grade? Learning violin in strings class? Your sleep-talking? Writing letters to pseudo-boyfriends? Walking through an ice/sleet storm in Texas on Christmas day? Making homemade peanut butter cups together? Playing in your playhouse? Listening to endless tree jokes? Summer music camp at BYU? Girls' camp?
And later, playing in the same orchestra concert at BYU...celebrating so many unbirthdays and birthdays...
There are so, so many....Here's to many more memories!
Valerie I'll never forget when we first moved into the ward. We weren't in our house yet and I had to drive 40 min. to take Emma to school and then find something to do in the meantime. You invited me over to your house to wait for the bus. I thought you were amazingly nice for that. I can still smell the brand new carpet and see boxes all over the place. What a great neighbor and friend!
Unfortunately this is the first one that always comes to mind.
You, very very pregnant with two babies.
Laying on the bed upstairs, bowl next to you, just in case.
I think I remember fingernail polish?
and a tuna fish sandwich?
Then I remember coming back several weeks later and holding adorable baby boys while you and your hubby packed to move away. But everywhere we moved, you were there and it was fun to have a friend.
Then I remember sitting in your house in WA after the guys had JUST left, eating garlicky pizza and getting a call that they weren't gone after all. We were happy together and rushed off to meet our guys for one more night (getting gum on our way of course.)
Sleeping over at your house in Midland. Staying up until really late and playing news reporter with a flash light. Remember?
My favorite memories would have to be all the Bushman reunions! Giggling, playing pranks on the boys, and telling stories. I also loved being at BYU with you and seeing you play in the Cougar band! Yahoo! Honestly, though, I feel like I know you better through the blogging world! Life's funny!
